Space As A Substance

Space As A Substance was inspired by the concept of seismic data acquisition, and in particular the technique of well logging to determine the density of ROCK FORMATIONS. It is usually applied in the search for oil and gas.

By referring to these methods, space is considered a substance in this setup. The sound signal has to travel through the SPACE FORMATION, and is then acquired and subjectively processed by the receivers – namely the audience.

Space As A Substance was executed in the Bleijenburg Entrance Hall of the Royal Academy of Arts The Hague
